METABOLITE IDENTIFICATION

QPS biotransformation scientists and laboratory personnel are experts in designing, performing, and interpreting the results of metabolite profiling and identification studies using radiolabeled or cold compounds.

Metabolite identification studies can be performed in vitro using hepatic preparations such as hepatocytes or liver microsomes or S9 fractions from animals and humans. The goal for these studies is to define metabolic pathways for new drug candidates in animals and humans and to compare metabolic pathways among difference species. Metabolic stability and metabolite identification are some times performed in animal or human tissues.

in vivo metabolism, metabolite profiling and identification studies are performed using plasma, blood and excreta samples from mass balance/excretion studies in mice, rats, dogs, monkeys or humans as well as various tissues from tissue distribution studies, such as brain, liver, lung, kidney. Concentrations of parent and metabolites in different matrices are often quantified when radiolabeled compounds are used.

Further metabolite structure confirmation using NMR can also be performed by QPS.
